There's no doubt in anyone's mind that COVID19 was a catalyst that accelerated the adoption of 'digital' across everything, at least for most humans on earth, and especially those you would never have expected to do so.
QR codes are no exception to the phenomenon and are not a new technology either but their update surged during COVID19 (for obvious reasons) and has remained with us ever since.
We now use QR codes in our daily lives and they have become second nature for most of us.
At Convergent Water Controls (CWC) we are continually on a quest to improve and optimise our customer experience and wherever possible, we do so by leveraging technology to augment customer experience and satisfaction levels.
We've recently added QR code labels to various products to allow you to quickly access relevant product-related information, for example: manuals, 'how to' videos, spares & diagrams.
QR codes are becoming increasingly popular, specifically in product labelling and packaging, because they provide an easy and convenient way for consumers to access relevant information, very specific and unique to their product of interest.
By scanning the QR code with their smartphone or other mobile device, customers can quickly and easily access a wealth of information about the product, including manuals, diagrams, video tutorials, spares and other related details. This can be particularly useful for products that are complex or require special instructions or care, such as the EMEC KMF Dosing Pump as seen in the image below:
QR codes are also useful for us at Convergent Water Controls (CWC) because they help to reduce the number of printed materials required for product labelling and packaging - this is also better for the environment.
Instead of printing extensive instructions or manuals within the packaging itself, we can rather replace paper with a QR code that directs customers to the relevant information online whilst doing our part for mother nature, at the same time. This helps reduce our carbon footprint.
Overall, QR codes are a convenient and efficient way to provide customers with the information they need about a product, while also reducing waste and promoting sustainability in packaging design.
How it works:
To use a QR code, you need a smartphone or a QR code reader app on your device. Here are the basic steps:
-
Open the QR code reader app on your smartphone or device (Usually done via a camera)
-
Point your camera at the QR code so that it fits within the viewfinder of the app.
-
Wait for the app to scan the QR code, which may take a few seconds.
-
Once the QR code is scanned, a web page will launch with various resources for that specific product (e.g. Instruction Manuals, Spare Parts and videos for "how to" etc.)
-
